Be Heard

I'm Rebecca, a fully qualified Speech and Language Therapist since 2017 with particular passions in working with children with speech sound disorders, developmental language disorder and Autism. I find immense joy in watching children discover and connect with their world as a result of enhancing the communication skills of the child and the key adults in their lives.

My approach involves close collaboration with families and educational staff, tailoring creative communication strategies to each child's individual needs. I love incorporating play into my sessions to promote speech and language development in the children that I serve.

FAQs

  • At Be Heard, we prioritise involving parents and caregivers on their child's speech and language therapy journey. Depending on age and needs, this collaborative approach may involve caregivers attending sessions to facilitate regular practice in familiar settings.

  • For typical developmental milestones, explore our website's 'resources' section. If you require more personalised guidance, schedule a free 15-minute consultation with us, where we can personally guide you further.

  • Whilst some great self-help resources exist online, they can to be broad and limited in scope. A Speech and Language Therapist offers personalised assessment and therapy. We identify and enhance areas of difficulty, building on your child's unique strengths and interests. With experience and knowledge, we use evidence-based approaches and tailor them to your child's individual needs.

  • At Be Heard, we highly value collaboration with the adults in your child's educational setting. To optimise therapeutic impact, it's crucial that your child has regular opportunity to practice their new skills with various familiar adults and peers. Our adaptable service allows us to conduct sessions in your child's educational setting if desired and permitted.

  • Each assessment is uniquely tailored to your child. We gather parental concerns through a case history. A mixture of observation and assessment is carried out with your child. Afterward, the Speech and Language Therapist offers verbal feedback and provides a written summary report outlining your child's strengths, needs, and recommended future actions.

  • Absolutely not. We encourage your child to be known to your local authority Speech and Language Therapy service. We're here to provide additional support that complements what your local authority offers. With your consent, we collaborate with the NHS therapist when appropriate.
